Craig House
2008 Gisborne & Hawke's Bay Architecture Award
This understated, almost self effacing home sits quietly confident in its hard edged location.
Deriving its forms, materials and language from the warehouse vernacular of Ahuriri, but successfully rendered in a smaller scale without descending into parody. This language has been carried through the entire dwelling with careful and consistent use of detail and materials
Careful planning has ensured a high level of liveability and privacy within a very tight site, and overall this project provides a role model for domestic architecture in the area. [NZIA citation]
